Resolution - 2017-58RESOLUTION NO. 2017-58 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TRADE IN HAND GUNS BY POLICE OFFICERS AND RESERVE POLICE OFFICERS. WHEREAS, the City has entered into an agreement with ProForce International ("ProForce") to purchase new hand guns to be issued to its police officers and reserve police officers to replace their current city issued Glock G-21 hand guns that are in need of replacement due to age and wear ("trade-in gun"); and WHEREAS, ProForce, as part of the purchase agreement, has agreed to purchase the trade-in guns for a credit of two hundred and fifty dollars apiece, against the purchase price of the new guns; WHEREAS, some of the police officers that are having their side arms replaced, have expressed an interest in being allowed to purchase their trade-in gun for the amount of the credit that ProForce is offering for said trade-in guns; WHEREAS, the City Council feels that it would be in the best interest of the City to allow for this purchase by the police officers and reserve police officers. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The City Council does hereby authorize any police officer and reserve police officer, whose city issued hand gun is being replaced by a new city issued hand gun, to purchase their trade-in gun for two hundred and fifty ($250.00) dollars and directs that the funds collected from the officers for the purchase of the trade-in guns be used for the purchase of the new hand guns; SECTION 2.
