A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
COVINA, CALIFORNIA, COMMITTING THE USE OF FUTURE PARK
DEDICATION FUNDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW
PLAYGROUND AT WALMERADO PARK
WHEREAS, At the January 21, 2014, City Council meeting, the City Council approved a
partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and Macy's, Inc. to raise
donations to make improvements at Walmerado Park;
WHEREAS, the City Council has approved utilizing these funds to build a new baseball
themed playground at Walmerado Park; and
WHEREAS, Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina's Office has pledged $125,000
in Los Angeles County Park funds for the construction of the new playground at Walmerado Park,
conditional on the City's commitment to pledge the funds generated from the Macy fundraising
campaign and any additional funds needed to construct the new playground.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The West Covina City Council does hereby commit the use of Park Dedication
Funds and all funds raised from the Macy's fundraising campaign to match the Los
Angeles County Park funds provided by Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria
Molina's Office.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and shall transmit
a certified copy to Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina's Office.
