A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
COVINA, CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES'
ISSUANCE OF AN OFF -SALE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE LICENSE TO
THE CONVENIENCE STORE .LOCATED AT VALINDA AND
MAPLEGROVE
WHEREAS, four licensed off -sale. alcohol- sellers are currently located at the intersection
of Valinda and Maplegrove, within and bordering the City of West Covina; and
WHEREAS, local residents. and businesses have voiced their objections to a proposed fifth
off -,sale alcohol seller at the intersection of Valinda and Maplegrove, citing concerns over
potential dangers, crime, and vagrants; and
WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles is considering granting an off --sale alcoholic
beverage license to the proposed convenience store at the northwest corner of Valinda and
Maplegrove, within County jurisdiction.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT .RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of West
Covina determines and resolves as follows:
1. The City Council officially opposes the County of Los Angeles issuing an off -sale
alcoholic beverage license to the convenience- store located at Valinda and Maplegrove
(northwest corner), as nearby West Covina residents are concerned with potential dangers
to the surrounding community.
