A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
COVINA, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING WEST COVINA YOUTH

SOCCER'S EFFORTS TO FIND ADDITIONAL PLAYING FIELDS AT
LOCAL SCHOOLS
WHEREAS, soccer is the most participated sport with millions of children and adults
participating around the globe;
WHEREAS, West Covina Youth Soccer provides over 2,000 children in West Covina the
opportunity to participate in friendly competition and to remain physically active; and
WHEREAS, West Covina Youth Soccer is in need of additional playing and {practice
fields in West Covina) to maintain the level of participation in the community; and
WHEREAS, the City of West Covina is committed to organized sports programs for
youth and adults alike; and
WHEREAS, West Covina Youth Soccer, the City of West Covina, and Wesf Covina
Unified have partnered to provide playing and practice facilities for soccer; and
WHEREAS, the City of'West Covina has previously provided funding for soccer related
projects and programs and will continue to seek funding to help provide the best ''possible
facilities for all sports programs in West Covina.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina, California, does hereby
resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of West Covina is committed to West Covina
Youth Soccer's efforts to find additional playing fields at local parks and school fields.
SECTION 2: 1 That the City of West Covina expresses its appreciation to the West
Covina Unified School District for its support for providing playing fields for youth and adult
sports in the community.
SECTION 3. 1 The City of West Covina will continue to work with West Covina Unified
School District to meet the growing demand for amenities and playing fields for all sports
leagues in West Covina.
SECTION 4. 1 The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
