RESOLUTION NO. 2007-8
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
COVINA, CALIFORNIA, FIXING THE COMPENSATION OF
CLASSIFICATIONS WITHIN THE LIMITED SERVICE
CLASSIFICATIONS, FULL-TIME CLASSIFICATIONS, AND
AMENDING RESOLUTION NUMBERS 2000-100, 2000-65, 2001-55, 2002-
75, 2002-91, 2004-19, and 2006-99
WHEREAS, the salary adjustments for the part-time positions of Lifeguard, Lifeguard
Instructor, Pool Manager, Assistant Pool Manager, Social Services Specialist, Offset Equipment
Operator Trainee, Recycling Specialist, Fire Protection Engineering Intern, Planning Intem,
Engineering Trainee, Accounting Intern, Administrative Intern, Information Systems Intern,
Engineering Aide, and Cable Television Production Assistant, and the full-time positions of
Public Works Project Supervisor, Communications Technician, Senior Communications
Technician, will assist in attracting and maintaining qualified applicants in relation to the labor
market; and
WHEREAS, the majority of the part-time position have not received salary adjustments
since FY 01-02; and
WHEREAS, the recommended salary adjustments are in line with the labor market.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina does resolve as
follows:
SECTION 1. That Resolution Numbers 2000-100, 2000-65, 2001-55, 2002-75, 2001-91,
and 2004-19, and 2006-99 are hereby amended by this Resolution.
SECTION 2. That the hourly wage range for the part-time classes is hereby established
as listed on Attachment A.
SECTION 3. That effective July 2009, all part-time positions that do not have a full-
time equivalent be tied to their respective full-time job family position as it relates to salary
adjustments. It is recommended that these part-time positions be increased by one-half of the
increase that the full-time positions receive. This will enable the City to hire and retain qualified
employees in relation to the labor market.
SECTION 4. That the salary range for the full time position of Public Works Project
Supervisor be aligned with the Plan Check Engineer and Principal Engineer positions effective
July 6, 2002.
SECTION 5. That the salary range for the full-time position of Communications
Technician be adjusted over the next two years, as follows: Salary increase effective February
24, 2007 will be 16%. Salary increase effective February 23, 2008 will be 15%.
SECTION 6. That the salary range for the full-time position of Senior Communications
Technician be adjusted over the next two years, as follows: Salary increase effective February
24, 2007 will be 18%. Salary increase effective February 23, 2008 will be 15%.
SECTION 7. The effective date of this Resolution is February 24, 2007.
SECTION 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
ADOPTED and ADOPTED on this 21 st day of February 2007.
