Resolution - 2007-65RESOLUTION NO. 2007-65 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2007-31 RELATING TO MANAGEMENT COMPENSATION, BENEFITS AND CLASSIFICATION OF DEPARTMENT HEADS WHEREAS, the City of West Covina has examined the adjustments provided to comparable Department Heads in the Labor market; and WHEREAS, the City of West Covina provides salary adjustments and benefit enhancements deemed appropriate to attract and retain qualified executives and remain competitive in the labor market. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina does resolve that Resolution No. 2007-31 relating to management (Department Head) salaries is hereby amended as follows: SECTION 1. Administrative Leave — Effective February 20, 2007, Department Heads shall receive an additional 20 hours of Administrative Leave for a total of 100 hours per calendar year. It is also requested that Department Heads' ability to cash out unused Administrative Leave be increased from 20 hours to 40 hours per calendar year. SECTION 2. Management Benefit (Deferred Compensation) — Effective February 20, 2007, the Department Head Management Benefit towards deferred compensation will be increased from $200 per month to $300 per month. SECTION 3. Supplemental Retirement Plan — Miscellaneous Department Heads shall receive a Supplemental Retirement Benefit equal to the amount of the Retiree Medical Benefit received by the Police and Fire Chiefs. Currently, the Police and Fire chiefs are eligible to receive a Retiree Medical Benefit of $550 per month, upon retirement. Department Heads, with the exception of Police and Fire Chiefs, must have five years of service with the City to be eligible for the Supplemental Retirement Benefit equal to that received by the Police and Fire chiefs. SECTION 4. The salary adjustments and benefit enhancements for Department Heads approved on May 15, 2007 will remain in effect as it relates to cost of living adjustments, medical, dental and vision insurance and PERS employee's contribution paid by the City. SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. PASSED AND APPROVED on this 41h of September 2007.
