A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
COVINA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT
NO. 07-4720, WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA PROVIDING FOR
THE STATE'S RELINQUISHMENT OF A PORTION OF ROUTE 39 (SR
• 39), NORTH AZUSA AVENUE FROM GARVEY AVENUE SOUTH TO
BADILLO STREET (NORTH CITY LIMIT)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS: S
SECTION 1: FINDINGS
A. The State of California, acting through its Department of Transportation (Caltrans)
and the City have negotiated a transfer of the ownership of that portion of Route 39 (SR 39), North
Azusa Avenue between Garvey Avenue South and Badillo Street (north City limit). ("The
relinquished portion of the State Route 39") located within the territorial boundaries of the City of
West Covina, pursuant to the authority contained in California Streets and Highways Code, Section
73.
B. After the effective date of relinquishment by the State, the City will assume
ownership of State Route 39 (SR 39).
C. The State will pay to the City of West Covina the sum of $2,200,000 in fulfillment
of its responsibility to place the relinquished State Route 39 (SR 39) in a state of good repair.
SECTION 2: The City Council hereby approves Cooperative Agreement No. 07-4720
between the State of California and the City of West Covina and authorizes the Mayor to execute
same.
Office.
SECTION 3: That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
SECTION 4: That the City Clerk shall record the resolution to the County Recorder's
SECTION 5: That the City Clerk shall transmit a certified recorded copy to Caltrans.
