A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST COVINA AUTHORIZING A JOINT PUBLIC HEARING
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA
AND THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF
• WEST COVINA ,TO CONSIDER ADOPTION OF THE
REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE CITYWIDE
REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT AREA AND RELATED
ITEMS
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West Covina (the "City Council") directed the
Redevelopment Agency of the City of West Covina (the "Agency") to prepare and adopt a
Redevelopment Plan (the "Plan") for the West Covina Citywide Redevelopment Project Area; and
WHEREAS, the Plan is being prepared pursuant to the provisions of the California
Community Redevelopment Law (CCRL), Health and Safety Code Sections 33000 et. seq., and
WHEREAS, Section 33348 of the CCRL requires that prior to approval of a redevelopment
plan by an agency, the agency shall conduct a public hearing; and
WHEREAS, Section 33360 of the CCRL requires that prior to approval of a redevelopment
plan by a city council, the city council shall conduct a public hearing; and
WHEREAS, Section 33355 of the CCRL allows the agency and city council, with the
consent of both, to hold ajoint public hearing on a redevelopment plan; and
WHEREAS, Agency staff prepared a Notice of Joint Public Hearing and related documents
pursuant to requirements of the CCRL; and
WHEREAS, the Agency approved the Notice of Public Hearing and related documents.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council authorizes the convening of a joint 'public hearing with the
Redevelopment Agency of the City of West Covina on June 1, 1999 at 7:30 p.m. or as soon thereafter
as possible, in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 1444 W. Garvey Avenue South, West Covina,
California, 91790, for the purpose of considering adoption of the Redevelopment Plan for the
Citywide Redevelopment Project.
Section 2. The City Clerk is directed to publish, in cooperation with the Agency, a "Legal Notice
of the Joint Public Hearing" in a newspaper of general circulation not less than once a week for four
successive weeks prior to the date of the Joint Public Hearing. The City Clerk is further directed to
cooperate with Agency staff and Agency advisors in executing the remaining noticing requirements
of the CCRL.
