RESOLUTION NO. 9633
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, VOTING
IN SUPPORT OF MAYOR RICHARD MELENDEZ
AS THE REPRESENTATIVE FOR CITIES
WITHOUT PUMPING RIGHTS ON THE SAN
GABRIEL BASIN WATER QUALITY AUTHORITY
BOARD.
WHEREAS, on September 22, 1992, Senate Bill 1679 was signed into law by Governor
Pete Wilson authorizing the creation of the San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority;
and
WHEREAS, the Board of the San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority is composed
of five members with three appointed members from each of the three municipal water
districts, one elected city council person from cities in the San Gabriel Basin with
prescriptive water pumping rights, and one elected city council person from cities in the
San Gabriel Basin without prescriptive water pumping rights; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Richard Melendez, of the City of West Covina, has been
nominated by the West Covina City Council to serve as the representative for cities
without prescriptive water pumping rights on the Board of the San Gabriel Basin Water
Quality Authority; and
WHEREAS, The City of West Covina may cast its ballot for the representative of cities
without prescriptive water pumping rights by resolution.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA,
CALIFORNIA DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of West Covina votes in support of Mayor
Richard Melendez to serve as the representative for cities without prescriptive water
pumping rights on the Board of the San Gabriel Basin Water Quality A4ority.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of November 1998.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution No. 9633 was duly adopted
by the City Council of the City of West Covina at the regular meeting thereof held on the
3rd day of Nov. , 1998, by the following vote of the Council:
