RESOLUTION NO: 9580
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA,
CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING THE COMPLETE
• REOPENING OF HIGHWAY 39 BETWEEN THE
' CITY OF AZUSA AND ANGELES CREST
HIGHWAY 2.
WHEREAS, Highway 39, provides a vital link between the San Gabriel Valley and the
Angeles National Forest and is an important route for search and rescue activities; and
WHEREAS, the portion of Highway 39 North of the City of Azusa to the Angeles Crest
Highway 2 has been closed since 1978; and
WEREAS, since it's closure the City of West Covina has continuously supported the
reopening of Highway 39, for the benefit of all residents of the San Gabriel Valley; and
WHEREAS, Caltrans efforts to reopen parts of the closed section of Highway 39 are
encouraging.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of West Covina
hereby supports the complete reopening of Highway 39, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Adolph A. Solis,
City Clerk for the City of Azusa.
