A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WEST COVINA, SUPPORTING SENATE BILL 1395
PROVIDING FOR ENHANCED SENTENCING FOR
MANUFACTURE OF METHAMPHENTAMINE NEAR A
DWELLING UNIT
WHEREAS, the illegal manufacture of methamphetamine is a threat to community
safety; and
WHEREAS, there has been increasing reports of such illegal manufacture in the East
San Gabriel Valley, creating a danger to innocent citizens and public safety personnel; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1395 introduced by Senator Hilda Solis would impose an
additional ten (10) year term of imprisonment upon any person convicted of illegal manufacture
of methamphetamine or phencyclidine when the commission or attempted commission of the
crime occurs in a structure located within 1,000 feet of a dwelling unit.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina does resolve as
follows:
SECTION 1. The City Council has reviewed Senate Bill 1395 introduced by Senator
Hilda Solis and is in support of adoption into the State of California
Health and Safety Code.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
