A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, RESCINDING
RESOLUTION NO. 8939 AND DECLARING ITS
INTENTION TO COLLECT THE ANNUAL SEWER
STANDBY AVAILABILITY CHARGE THROUGH THE
COUNTY GENERAL TAX BILL AND ESTABLISH A DATE
FOR A PUBLIC HEARING THEREON.
• (Public Hearing: JULY 20, 1993)
WHEREAS, Section 38902 of the Government Code and other statutes
empower a city to fix an annual sewer standby or immediate availability charge; and
WHEREAS, the City of West Covina, by Resolution No. 5726, has
established such a sewer service or immediate availability charge; and
WHEREAS, the City may collect the standby or immediate availability charge
as part of the annual General County Tax Bill; and
WHEREAS, the law requires a Public Hearing be held on this method of
collecting the service charge.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina does
hereby resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of West Covina does hereby
declare its intention to collect sewer standby charge or immediate availability charges as part
of the annual General County Tax Bill, and hereby rescind Resolution No. 8939 and set July
20, 1993 as the date for a Public Hearing on this method of collecting the service charges.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized, designated and
directed to give notice of said Hearing in time, form and manner as required by law.
SECTION 3. That the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, a daily newspaper of
general circulation, published and circulated within the said City of West Covina, California,
is hereby designated as the newspaper in which such notice shall be published.
SECTION 4. That the City Clerk of the City of West Covina shall certify to
the adoption of this resolution.
