RESOLUTION # 8923
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WESTJOVINA.
CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO ENTER"INTO AN
AGREEMENT ALLOWING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN
THE V.A.I.D.E.P, GRANT.
WHEREAS, the California Highway Patrol has received grant.funds for.the ,
creation of a multi -agency enforcement program; and
WHEREAS, the grant includes participation by the Police Department of,';, ;
West Covina, Covina, Baldwin Park, Azusa, Irwindale, and Glendora;,and_
WHEREAS, the grant fully funds the participation of West,Covina Police
Department personnel; and
WHEREAS, the participation of all Agencies will enhancepublic-safety -'-.--
in the entire San Gabriel Valley, based upon a reduction in DUI related
traffic accidents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the West Covina City Council
authorizes the West Covina Police Department to participate in the grant (known
as VAIDEP) and authorizes the Chief of Police to sign the participation
agreement.
