Resolution - 8896E • RESOLUTION NO. 8896 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST • COVINA, CALIFORNIA, FOR CONTINUED INVOLVEMENT IN THE SAN GABRIEL VALLEY TRANSPORTATION COALITION AND PAYMENT OF THE 1992-93 ASSESSMENT. The City Council of the City of West Covina does resolve as follows: WHEREAS, transportation issues effect the residents of all cities and the unincorporated county areas of the San Gabriel Valley, and; WHEREAS, the San Gabriel Valley needs a unified voice on transportation matters that reflect the interests of business and government, and; WHEREAS, the San Gabriel Valley Transportation Coalition is an informal organization which exists for the purpose of improving mobility, expanding transportation options, securing a fair share of transportation resources, and forging a unified voice on transportation issues which affect the area, and; WHEREAS, the City of West Covina is currently a member of the San Gabriel Valley Transportation Coalition, under the terms of a contract with the City of Alhambra, and; WHEREAS, the San Gabriel Valley Transportation Coalition has been successful in its initial efforts to secure a fair share of transportation resources for the San Gabriel Valley, and is designed to continue such efforts, and NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City of West Covina hereby amends its contract with the City of Alhambra, as follows: Paragraph 5 of the Agreement shall be replaced by the new paragraph 5 as follows: In order to achieve the objectives of the Agreement, each SIGNATORY agrees to pay three and one-half cents ($.035) per capita of the population residing within that SIGNATORY's jurisdiction, for the fiscal year 1993 (July 1, 1992, through June 30, 1993). All population figures shall be based upon the 1990 census. All funds paid by SIGNATORY for fiscal year 1992 shall be retained by the COALITION and used for COALITION purposes and not refunded to SIGNATORY. • is Approved and adopted this third day of November, 1992.
