RESOLUTION NO. 9,986 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE
CITY OF WEST COVINA WATER DEPARTMENT'S URBAN WATER
MANAGEMENT PLAN.
• WHEREAS, the California Legislature enacted Assembly
Bill 797 during the 1983-1984 Regular Session of the
California Legislature (Water Code Section 10610 et seq.),
known as the Urban Water Management Planning Act, which
mandates that every urban supplier of water providing water
for municipal purposes to more than 3,000 customers or
supplying more than 3,000 acre feet of water annually,
prepare an Urban Water Management Plan, the primary
objective of which is to plan for the conservation and
efficient use of water; and
WHEREAS, AB797 requires that said Plan be adopted by
December 31, 1985, after public review and hearing, and
filed with the California Department of Water Resources
within thirty days of adoption; and
WHEREAS, the City of West Covina did prepare and file
said Plan with the California Department of Water Resources
in December, 1985; and
WHEREAS, AB797 requires that said Plan be periodically
reviewed at least once every five years, and that the urban
water supplier shall make any amendments or changes to its
plan which are indicated by the review; and
WHEREAS, the City updated and adopted their Plan in
February, 1991; and
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill No.11X amended the requirements
of the Plan to include a Water Shortage Contingency Plan,
and
WHEREAS, an Engineering Consultant was retained by the
City to prepare the Water Shortage Contingency Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West
Covina, does resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. That the City Council adopt the amended
Urban Water Management Plan as prepared by the
Consulting Engineer including any corrections and/or
additions resulting from the Public Hearing.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this resolution and to cause the said resolution
and said amended Urban Water Management Plan to be filed
with the Department of Water Resources no later than thirty
(30) days after adoption.
SECTION 3. No later than thirty (30) days after filing
its plan with the Department as set out in Section 2, the
City shall make the plan available for public review during
normal business hours.
