A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
COVINA, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING THE FINAL DRAFT OF THE
HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE ELEMENT AS PART OF THE WEST
COVINA GENERAL PLAN.
WHEREAS, the State of California has adopted legislation
which requires that each city develop a Household Hazardous Waste
Element as part of its response to the waste crisis; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with State requirements, the City
has developed a Household Hazardous Waste Element; and
WHEREAS, a series of public hearings have been held to.
receive input from citizens, City staff, City commissions, the Los
Angeles County Local Task Force, the California Integrated Waste
Management Board, and other State Agencies; and,
WHEREAS, the Final Draft of the Household Hazardous Waste
Element has incorporated the comments and changes directed by the
City Council pursuant to these hearings; and
WHEREAS, based upon an initial study conducted for the
Household Hazardous Waste Element, it was determined that the
project would not result in any potential adverse significant
environmental impacts and a Negative Declaration of Environmental
Impact was prepared; and
WHEREAS, after considering the Household Hazardous Waste
Element at a duly advertised public hearing on January 13, 1992, as
prescribed by law, the Planning Commission recommended that the
City Council adopt the Household Hazardous Waste Element; and,
WHEREAS, after considering the Household Hazardous Waste
Element at a duly advertised public hearing on January 16, 1992, as
prescribed by law, the Waste Management and Environmental Quality
Commission recommended that the City Council adopt the Household
Hazardous Waste Element; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West Covina has
conducted a duly advertised public hearing on February 4, 1992, as
prescribed by law;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West
Covina does resolve as follows:
SECTION NO. 1: After receiving and considering all
determinations, studies, documents, and recommendations
as well as appropriate public and agency comments, the
City Council of the City of West Covina does hereby adopt
the Final Draft of the Household Hazardous Waste Element
as part of the West Covina General Plan.
SECTION NO. 2: The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Resolution.
