A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
COVINA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 7223
RELATING TO CLASSIFICATIONS AND COMPENSATION, AS
AMENDED, AND REACTIVATING THE DEPUTY POLICE CHIEF
COMPENSATION AND SETTING THE SALARY RANGE.
WHEREAS, the Deputy Police Chief is an existing class
specification; and
• WHEREAS, the Deputy Police Chief, classification has not been
utilized since 1978; and
WHEREAS, the City is desirous of utilizing the Deputy Police Chief
classification; and
WHEREAS, the appointment of a Deputy Police Chief will be
substituted on an interim basis for a Police Commander position; and
WHEREAS, upon the effective date of the Police Chief's resignation
from the City the Deputy Police Chief will be promoted to Police Chief; and
WHEREAS, the salary range for Deputy Police Chief has been studied
in light of the current organization;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina does
resolve as follows;
SECTION 1. That the classification of Deputy Police Chief be
reactivated.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager be authorized to appoint a
Deputy Police Chief on an interim basis.
SECTION 3. That the salary range for Deputy Police Chief is
hereby established at $4750-$6413.
SECTION 4. That Resolution No. 7223 as amended, relating to
classification and compensation of position, is hereby amended by this
resolution.
SECTION 5. That the effective date of this resolution is
January 15, 1990.
SECTION 6. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution.
