Resolution - 6018RESOLUTION NO. 6018 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, INCORPORATING INTO THE CITY'S PERSONNEL RULES AN "ACTING TEMPORARY APPOINTMENTS TO A HIGHER CLASSIFICATION" POLICY FOR MAINTENANCE • DEPARTMENT, FIELD SERVICE EMPLOYEES. The City Council of the City of West Covina does resolve as follows: SECTION 1. That the City's Personnel Rule III.5 "Acting Temporary Appointments to a Higher Classification" is amended to include the following provisions with reference only to Maintenance Department field service employees, and hereby incorporates the terms and conditions of a Memorandum of Understanding entered into on October 26, 1979, between representatives of management for the City of West Covina and the Service Employee's International Union: III.5. Acting Temporary Appointments to a Higher Classification Acting pay will be provided to employees covered under this Memorandum of Understanding upon the completion of 30 non-consecutive acting days or equivalent thereof within a fiscal year in a higher classification. For every five days worked, seven days will be counted. Higher class work in increments of less than eight hours may be accumulated to meet the 30-day requirement. This provision will apply only to acting assignments formally initiated by the respective department head and/or supervisor in writing to the employee. For the purposes of record keeping, the counting of acting assignments will begin on July 1 of each year and will end on June 30 of the year. When an acting assignment is made such that it occurs • during June of one fiscal year and overlaps into the next successive month of July which is the beginning of a new fiscal year, pay will be provided when such acting assignment exceeds 30 consecutive calendar days. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
