RESOLUTION NO. 5983
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST COVINA REQUESTING THE BOARD
OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES
TO CONSOLIDATE A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA TO BE HELD ON
NOVEMBER 6, 1979, WITH THE STATE SPECIAL
ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 6,.1979,
PURSUANT TO SECTION 23302 OF THE ELECTIONS
CODE
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West Covina called
a special municipal election in the City of West Covina to be
held on November 6, 1979, for the purpose of submitting to the
qualified voters of the City of West Covina a proposition concern-
ing certain proposals relating to an appointive City Clerk and
appointive City Treasurer for the City of West Covina as herein-
after set forth; and
It is desirablethat said special municipal election be
consolidated with the statewide, specia-1 e-1`ection to. be -held, on the
same date and that within the City of West Covina precincts,
polling places and election officers of the two elections be the
same, and that the.Regi'strar-Recorder of the County of Los Angeles
canvass the returns of the special election be held in all respects
as if there were only one election
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina
does hereby resolve, determine, and order as follows:
SECTION l.. That pursuant to the requirements of Section
23302 of the Elections Code, the Board,of Supervisors of the
County of Los Angeles be and it hereby is requested to, consent
and agree to the consolidation of a special municipal election
with the statewide special election on Tuesday, the 6th day of
November, 1979, for the purpose of submitting to the electors of
the City of West`Covina a.proposition to appear on the ballot as
follows:

SECTION 2. Said.Registrar-Recorder is hereby authorized to
canvass the returns of said special municipal election which it
is hereby requested to consolidate with said statewide special
election and said election shall be held in all respects as if
there were only one election, and only one form of ballot shall
be used.
SECTION 3. Said Board of Supervisors is hereby requested to
issue instructions to the Registrar -Recorder to take any and all
steps necessary for the holding of said consolidated election.
SECTION 4. The City of West Covina recognized that additional
costs will be incurred by the County by reason of this consolida-
tion and agrees to reimburse the County for any such costs.

SECTION 5. That the City Clerk of the City of West Covina
• is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this resolution
with the Registrar -Recorder of the County of Los Angeles.
SECTION 6. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution.
