A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST COVINA GRANTING ACCESS TO HOLLENBECK STREET
FROM EAST GARVEY AVENUE NORTH, TO A POINT 150
FEET NORTHERLY.
WHEREAS, when Tract 17547 was approved as a single family
• residential subdivision, vehicular access rights from Hollenbeck
Street were dedicated for traffic safety reasons;- and
WHEREAS, the State of California acquired the northwest
corner of Hollenbeck Street and Garvey Avenue for freeway purposes,
which included an on and off ramp system,•-;, and
WHEREAS, subsequently the State of California widened the
freeway and sold the excess portion of the northwest corner to a
developer;. and
WHEREAS, the developer has requested the granting of access to
Hollenbeck Street for better utilization of his development plans;
and
WHEREAS, staff feels that the original reason for denying veh-
icular access rights to this site is no longer valid, in that
traffic safety would not be significantly affected by granting of
access to Hollenbeck Street; and
WHEREAS, this proposed granting of access is consistent with
the city policy of allowing commercially zoned parcels to have
direct vehicular access to primary and secondary streets; -
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina
does resolve as follows:
• SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of West Covina here-
by finds and determines that the following described parcel no longer
requires denial of vehicular access to Hollenbeck Street:
Lots 144, 145, 146, and 147 of Tract No. 17547,,in the City
of West Covina, County of Los Angeles, State of California,
as per map recorded in Book 458 Pages 36 to 38 inclusive
of Maps, in the office of the County Recorder of said
County.
Except that portion of Lot 144 of Tract No. 17547 lying
Southerly and Southeasterly of the following described
line:
Beginning at a point in the Westerly line of Lot 132 of
said tract, distant along said Westerly line North 00 29' 20"
West, 22.00 feet from the Southerly terminus of said Westerly
line, shown as having a length of 101.59 feet on said map;
thence Southerly along a tangent curve concave Northeasterly,
having a radius of 15.00 feet, through an angle of 890 05' 30"
and an arc distance of 23.32 feet to a line parallel with and
distant Northerly 22.00 feet measured at right angles to the
Southerly line of said Lot 132; thence along said parallel
line, South 890 34' 50" East 741.88 feet to the beginning of
tangent curve, concave Northerly, having a radius of 172.00
feet; thence Easterly along last said curve, through an
angle of 300 31' 17", an arc distance of 91.62 feet, to the
Southeasterly line of said Lot 144.
SECTION 2. Vehicular access to Hollenbeck Streetadjacent
to the parcel described in Section 1 hereof is hereby granted.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution and shall cause a certified copy thereof to be
recorded in the office of the County Recorder of said County.
