Resolution - 5720RESOLUTION NO. 5720 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA ESTABLISHING FEES AND CHARGES FOR CERTAIN FIRE DEPARTMENT PARAMEDIC SERVICES. • The City Council of the City of West Covina does resolve as follows: SECTION 1. The following schedule of fees is hereby established to be charged and collected by the West Covina Fire Department in connection with emergency medical and/or paramedic services: (a) A fee of $50.00 for service during daytime hours (0800 to 2000). (b) A fee of $75.00 for service during nighttime hours (2000 to 0800). (c) A fee of $35.00 for transportation during daytime hours (0800 to 2000). (d) A fee of $45.00 for transportation during nighttime hours (2000 to 0800). (e) Additional charge of $1.00 per minute for service over 30 minutes at the scene. (f) Additional charge of $1.00 per minute for waiting over 30 minutes at the scene. • (g) Use of oxygen: $8.00. (h) Use of Bio-Medical Radio Voice Telemetry to base - station hospital: $25.00 (includes use of EKG Monitor with disposable electrodes). (i) Use of EKG Monitor without Telemetry: $15.00 (includes disposable electrodes). (j) Use of Cardiac Defibrillator: $15.00. W Insurance claim form preparation fee: $5.00 (except Medicare). (1) Accounts overdue to be penalized the maximum legal interest rate not to exceed 12% per month on the unpaid balance after 30 days from the first billing. (m) In special or unusual cases, variations in fees shall be recommended by the Fire Chief, subject to City Council approval. SECTION 2. That the charges imposed by this Resolution shall be increased or decreased annually as of July 1 of each calendar year, commencing on July 1, 1979, in an amount equal. to the increase or decrease from the Base • Index in the then latest available Consumer Price Index, as prepared and released by the Federal Government or any other governmental agency for the Los Angeles/Long Beach area. The last index published for the month of June 1978 shall be deemed to be the base index for the purpose of this Section. C J • • Res. No. 5720 0 Page Two SECTION 3. Validity of Resolution. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this Resolution is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of com- petent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this Resolution. The City Council hereby declares that it would have adopted this Resolution and each section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, subsections, phrases, or portions be declared invalid or unconstitutional. SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution. ATTEST: APPROVED and ADOPTED this 16th day of June 1978.
