A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, DESIGNATING
THE LOCATION OF AN EQUESTRIAN TRAIL IN THE
CITY OF WEST COVINA, AND REAFFIRMING THE
CITY'S SUPPORT OF DEVELOPMENT OF THE COUNTY
• SKYLINE AND SUBSIDIARY RIDING AND HIKING
TRAILS.
WHEREAS, in adopting the Environmental Quality
Element of the General Plan, the City adopted a policy
calling for a system of interrelated corridors consisting
of riding and hiking trails.....; and
WHEREAS, the City has implemented that policy by
the establishment of a City equestrian trail between Barranca
and Holt; and
WHEREAS, that trail should be extended to connect
with proposed trails of other agencies; and
WHEREAS, the East Hills Specific Plan Committee,
Recreation and Parks Commission, and Planning Commission have
examined alternate locations for the City trail; and
WHEREAS, it has been found that the most logical
extension of the existing equestrian trail should be along
the freeway right-of-way to Grand Avenue and southerly on
Grand to Holt shown on the attached Exhibit I.
• NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council
of the City of West Covina does designate the area shown on the
attachment (Exhibit I) as a future equestrian trail, and that
the City would support, permit and encourage the County of
Los Angeles to develop this designated trail as a logical sub-
sidiary of the Skyline Riding and Hiking Trail.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of the
City of West Covina reaffirm the efforts of the County of Los
Angeles to construct the Skyline and subsidiary Riding and
Hiking Trails.
