A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WEST COVINA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 1277,
RELATING TO THE CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION
OF POSITIONS WITHIN THE WEST COVINA• CITY SERVICE.
. The City Council of the City of West Covina does resolve as
follows:
SECTION 1. Section VI of Resolution No. 1277, relating to the
salary schedule applicable to all employees is amended to read as set forth
inr Exhibit A, attached hereto and -by this reference incorporated herein. _
SECTION 2. Section VII of Resolution No. 1277, relating to the
list of authorized positions and salary ranges is amended to read as set forth in
Exhibit B, attached hereto and by this reference incorporated herein.

1. A 2-1/2% differential is granted for night shift assignment.
2. Exempt Classes (see Personnel. Rules and Regulations - Municipal
Code,, Section No. 2410).
• 3. When not a requirement in job specification, a half-step pay bonus
will be paid for Engineer -in -Training Certificate, and a one and
one -half-step pay bonus.for a California Registered Engineer
License.
4. "Apprentice.Mechanic" shall advance to the classification of
"Mechanic" after five years' satisfactory service and completion
of the'qualifying examination.
S. "Maintenance Worker..1" shall. advance to the classification of
"Maintenance Worker II" after one year of satisfactory service.
"Maintenance Worker III" level is awarded upon special assignment
and when based upon merit or responsibilities,.provided that the
;appointee has completed at least one year at the "Maintena.nce.
Worker II" level.
6. "Secretary I" advances to "Secretary II" upon satisfactory com-
Pletion.of one year at the I level, recommendation of the department
head, and demonstration of the skills required of the II level.
.7. A one-step differential for assignment as Detective for up to eleven
Police Officers and one Sergeant. In addition to the number of
authorized full-time positions of Police Officer, additional full-
time positions, not to exceed four (4), are authorized. Appointments;.
. to the additional.positions provided for in this footnote may only be
made with the.prior approval of the City Manager.
8. To be compensated at the rate of one and one-half times the hourly
rate when assigned work requires the use of climbing spikes.
9. A 2-1/2% differential is awarded when assigned "Senior Communications"
responsibilities.in.the absence of an available Communications Super-
visor. The percentage is computed at "E" step regardless of the
employee's actual step.
10. Clerk -Typists assigned to the Police Department who perform shift
work on.a rotation basis, and who also perform matron duties,. re-
ceive a-7-1/2 differential.
11. Sworn classified Police employees receive a 5% differential for.an
associate degree.or'equivalent and a separate 5%.diff.erential for an
advanced POST certificate.

�4. The Civil Engineering Associate assigned to the Redevelopment Agency
receives an additional *125.00 per month while so assigned.
15. An employee occupying the Senior Building Inspector position may
receive a differential of from 2-1/2o to 100 of base salary when
performing "clerk of the works" functions for the City above the.
duties of the Senior Building Inspector class,.and,,when and'for
the. time, period authorized by the City Manager.
UNIFORM ALLOWANCE
1. Police offi,cer.s, agents, _sergeants, lieutenants, and. the captain re-
ceive $160.00 per year in uniform allowance and $75.00 per year in
cleaning allowance..
2. All professional Fire personnel receive $160.00 per year in uniform
allowance.
3. Clerk -stenographers, clerk -typists, and account clerks assigned to the
Police Department receive $100.00 per year in uniform allowance when
uniforms are required'.
40_ Police cadets receive $110.00 per year in uniform allowance and $75.00
per year in cleaning allowance.
Crossing guards receive $45.00 per year in uniform allowance.
6. Communications sup.ervisors ;and operators receive $100.00 per -year in
uniform allowance:
7. Building -inspectors receive $50.00 per year in uniform allowance.
8. Building, Parks, Central Services, and Street employees requiring out-
