RESOLUTION NO. 5298
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST COVINA, ADOPTING A SCHEDULE OF FEES FOR
BUILDING PERMITS AND PLAN CHECKING
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. A fee for each building permit shall be paid to
the Building Official as set forth in the following Schedule of
Fees:

$ 1.00 to $ 500.00 $10.00 for the first $500.00 plus
$1.00 for each additional $100.00 or
fraction thereof, to and including
$2,000.00.
$ 2,001.00 to $ 25,000.00 $25.00 for the first $2,000.00 plus
$4.00 for each additional $1,000.00
or fraction thereof to and including
$25,000.00.
$ 25,001.00 to $ 50,000.00 $117.00 for the first $25,000.00 plus
$3.50 for each additional $1,000.00
or fraction thereof, to and including
$50,000.00.
$ 50,001.00 to $100,000.00 $204.50 for the first $50,000.00 plus
$3.00 for each additional $1,000.00
or fraction thereof, to and including
$100,000.00.
$100,001.00 to $500,000.00 $354.50 for the first $100,000.00,
plus $2.00 for each additional $1,000.00
or fraction thereof, to and including
$500,000.00.
Total Valuation of Work
Fees
$500,001.00 and up $1,154.00 for the first $500,000.00
• plus $1.50 for each additional
$1,000.00 or fraction thereof.
The determination of value or valuation under the provisions
of the Building Code shall be made by the Building Official. The
valuation to be used in computing permit fees shall be the total
value of all construction work for which the permit is issued, as
well as all finish work, painting, roofing, electrical, plumbing,
heating, air conditioning, elevators, fire -extinguishing systems,
and any other permanent work or permanent equipment.
Where work for which a permit is required by the Building Code
is started or proceeded with prior to obtaining said permit, the
fees specified above shall be doubled, but the payment of such
• double fee shall not relieve any person from fully complying with
the requirements of the Building Code in the execution of the work,
nor from any other penalties prescribed therein.
SECTION 2. When the valuation of the proposed construction
exceeds $1,000.00 and a plan is required to be submitted by Section
301 of the Building Code, a plan -checking fee shall be paid to the
Building Official at the time of submitting plans and specifications
for checking.
Said plan checking fees shall be sixty-five percent (65%) of
the building permit fees as set forth above.
Where plans are incomplete, or are changed so as to require
additional plan checking, additional plan checking fees shall be
paid at the rate of $20.00 per hour for the estimated time of
• checking the revisions.

SECTION 3. Where additional inspections are made necessary
due to work not being ready at the time specified or due to work
not corrected after prior written correction notice, an additional
fee of $10.00 may be required by the Building Official prior to
reinspection.
SECTION 4. This resolution shall be effective upon the
effective date of Ordinance No. 1306.
SECTION 5. The, City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution.
