A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, COMMENDING THE EDGEWOOD
HIGH SCHOOL 1976 BASEBALL TEAM.
. WHEREAS, the 1976 EDGEWOOD HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY BASEBALL TEAM
participated in and won the California Interscholastic
Federation AAA Playoffs on June 2, 1976, defeating
West Torrance High School 2-0; and
WHEREAS, the EDGEWOOD HIGH SCHOOL TEAM was undefeated enroute
to the Sierra League Championship; and
WHEREAS, their splendid teamwork, attitude, and athletic
ability led them to.finish the season with the best
record in Southern California at 28 and 2; and
WHEREAS,
throughout the course of the season members of the
EDGEWOOD HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY BASEBALL TEAM performed
in a fashion consistent with the doctrines of sports-
manship and athletic competition; and
WHEREAS,.
this group of fine young men, under pressure, tension,
and physical discipline performed in such an admirable
manner that West Covina can be proud of.the attention
they have brought to the City; and
WHEREAS,
achieving the goal of a baseball championship teaches
the necessity of cooperation, initiative, team spirit,
dedication, and many other qualities required of a

good citizen:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WEST COVINA hereby commends the members of. the 1976
EDGEWOOD HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY BASEBALL TEAM, their Coach,
Gary Kretz, and their supporters for their successful
year and expresses its heartiest congratulations and
best wishes to them in all their future endeavors.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution
was adopted by the City Council of the City of West
Covina at an adjourned regular meeting thereof held
