RESOLUTION NO. 5111
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST COVINA APPROVING THE CLASS
SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE CLASS OF CRIMINAL
JUSTICE RESEARCH PLANNER AND ESTABLISHING
THE SALARY RANGE THEREFOR.
The City Council of the City of West Covina does
resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to the recommendation of the
Personnel Board:
1. The class specifications for the class of Criminal
Justice Research Planner, as attached hereto, marked Exhibit A,
and by this reference incorporated herein, are hereby adopted.
2. The salary range applicable to the class of
Criminal Justice Research Planner shall be salary range DHR-D.
3. The class of Criminal Justice Research Planner
is hereby placed in the exempt service.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution.
Adopted and approved this 8th day of September 1975.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE RESEARCH PLANNER
JOB SPECIFICATION SALARY RANGE DHR-D
Under the administrative direction of the Chief of Police, conducts,
interprets and evaluates original research information and data, and
•formulates projects and programs relating to the field of criminal
justice.
Representative Duties
Develops original research hypotheses directed toward improvement: of
local and regional programs of criminal justice, including such areas
as juvenile delinquency, drugs, gang activity and other crime -related
activities.
Plans, designs, conducts and evaluates research projects and programs
involving experimental methods of crime prevention and the reduction of
the occurrence of intra-city and inter -city criminality..
Devises various data processing approaches to determine relevant re-
search information and data, and works with computer personnel in the
programming and processing of social, economic and community and agency
data as relating to crime and delinquency.
Prepares reports, plans and recommendations based.on research find-
ings relating to criminal justice.
Consults with other local and regional agency and professional per-
sonnel in the development of project programs and plans, and the
practical application of the consequences and recommendations of
• various criminal_ justice programs.
Consults with other agencies concerning crime and delinquency prob-
lems and programs and the prevention or resolution of existing or
future crime and delinquency problems.
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE
Training and Experience
A Masters degree or related degree from an accredited college or uni-
versity with specialization in the field of criminal justice or re-
lated social/behavioral science.
Three years of responsible experience involving the .formulation,
analysis, evaluation and implementation of research programs in a
criminal or behavioral or social science field relating to crime and
delinquency.
