A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
COVINA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 1277, RELATING TO THE
CLASS AND COMPENSATION FOR MISCELLANEOUS EMPLOYEES
WITHIN THE WEST COVINA CITY SERVICE, AND AMENDING
RESOLUTION NO. 4855.

The City Council of the City of West Covina does resolve as
follows:
SECTION 1. Section VI of Resolution No. 1277, relating to the
salary schedule applicable:to Miscellaneous Employees is amended to read
as set forth in Exhibit A, attached hereto and by this reference incor-
porated herein.
SECTION 2. Section VII of Resolution No. 1277, relating to
the list of authorized positions and salary ranges is amended to read
as set forth in Exhibit B, attached hereto and by this reference
incorporated herein.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be effective as of July 1, 1975•
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution.

Footnotes to List of Authorized Positions and Salary Ranges
1. A 21;%, differential is granted for night shift assignment.
2. Exempt Classes (see Personnel Rules and.Regulations - Municipal
Code, Seotion No. 2410).
3. When riot a requirement in job specification, a half-step pay
bonus will -,be paid for Engineer -in -Training Certificate, and
a one and one -half-step pay bonus for a California Registered
Engineer License.

4. "Apprentice Mechanic" shall advance to the classification of
"Mechanic" after five years' satisfactory service and completion
of the qualifying examination.
5. "Maintenance Man I" shall advance to the classification of
"Maintenance Man II" after one year of satisfactory service.
"Maintenance Man III" level is awarded upon special assignment
and when based upon merit or responsibilities, provided that
the appointee has completed at least one year at the "Mainten-
ance Man II" level.
6. While taking courses leading toward a certificate as Structural
Plan Reviewer, a 2h%;differential is awarded. A total differen-
tial of 5% is granted when in possession of a Structural Plan
Reviewer Certificate.
7. A one-step differential for assignment as Detective for up to
eleven Police Officers and one Sergeant.
• 8. To be compensated at the rate of one and one-half.times the
hourly rate when assigned work requires the use of climbing
spikes.
9. A 2z0% differential is awarded when assigned "Senior Communica-
tions Operator" responsibilities in the absence of an available
Communications Supervisor. The percentage is computed at "E"
step regardless.of the employee's actual step.
10. Clerk -Typists assigned to the Police Department who perform
shift work on a.rotation basis, and who also perform matron
duties, receive.a 7hi% differential.
11. The Battalion Chief assigned to Deputy Fire Chief activities
to assist the Fire Chief and act in the Chief's capacity during
his absence receives additional compensation not to exceed $250
per month for the added responsibilities and time involvement.
12. Firemen also serving as Paramedics receive a 5% differential.
1.3. The incumbent Lieutenant in charge of the Detective Bureau
receives a 2;io/ differential while working in that capacity.

pletion of 500 hours of work per step.
UNIFORM ALLOWANCE
1. Police officers, agents, sergeants; lieutenants, and the captain
receive $160.00 per year in uniform allowance and $75.00 per
year in cleaning allowance. The purchase of leather goods and
hand guns shall be included in the cost of uniforms. u
2. All professional Fire personnel receive $160.00 per year in
uniform allowance.
3. Clerk -stenographers, clerk -typists, and account clerks assigned
to the Police Department receive $85.00 per year in uniform
allowance.
4. Police cadets receive $110.00 per year in uniform allowance and
$75.00 per year .in cleaning allowance.
5. Crossing guards:receive $45.00 per year in uniform allowance.
6. Communications supervisors and operators receive $100.00 per
year in uniform allowance.
7. Building inspectors receive $50.00 per year in uniform allowance.
8. Building, Parks,:Central Services, and Street employees requiring
outside work and/or work causing clothing to be soiled wear uni-
forms provided and maintained at City expense.
9. All items for the purchase of which reimbursement is made pursuant
to this section shall become the property of the purchaser after
one year, except that hand guns shall become the property of the
purchaser after two years from the date of purchase.
