A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WEST COVINA COMMENDING GERALD WEEKS FOR
HIS SERVICES TO THE CITY OF WEST COVINA
• WHEREAS, Gerald Weeks joined the staff of the City
of West Covina as an Administrative Intern in July, 1961, was
appointed Administrative Aide in June, 1962, Administrative
Analyst in August, 1962 and became Administrative Assistant
in June, 1964; and
WHEREAS, since first becoming an employee of this
City he specialized in personnel work, serving as Assistant
Personnel Officer working directly under the City Manager.
and progressed rapidly in this department as his proficiency
and management ability improved;
WHEREAS, during his tenure in office, the City
experienced its most rapid growth in area and population
and consequently in the number of employees required to
provide the necessary services to the public which necessitated
the application of modern techniques in the selection of,new
employees as well as a continuing effort to improve and update
the City's personnel system; and
WHEREAS, because of his understanding of employment
problems and his application of sound principles in resolving
those problems in an efficient,and diligent manner, he.contri-
buted'.'substantially toward improving the operation of the -Per-
sonnel Department; and
WHEREAS, he now wishes to be relieved of his duties
in order to accept an advanced position with another fine
California city;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
West Covina does hereby resolve:
SECTION 1. That the City Council hereby commends
Gerald Weeks for his fine contribution toward the development
of the City of West Covina Personnel System and expresses to
him their thanks and appreciation on behalf of Management and
the City Employees of this City for the gratifying results of
his efforts.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this resolution and shall transmit a certified
copy thereof to said Gerald Weeks.

I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly
adopted by the City Council of the City of West Covina at an
adjourned regular meeting thereof held on the 29th day of August,
1966, by the following vote of the Council:
AYES: Councilmen Gillum, Nichols, Gle man, Mayor Krieger

ABSENT: Councilman Snyder
