Resolution - 3378I E� it RESOLUTION NO. 3378 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA SUPPORTING PROPOSITION W ON JUNE, 1966 BALLOT WHEREAS, Proposition W, the $850,000,000 Water Bond issue to distribute Northern California water in the southland, will appear on the June, 1966, ballot; and WHEREAS, this measure, sponsored by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, provides for the con- struction of a huge new tunnel and pipeline system to bring 2,000,000 acre-feet of water annually to the six -county Dist- rict; and WHEREAS, the District's population of 9,800,000 people is expected to nearly double within 25 years; and WHEREAS, the Water Bonds will provide for our basic water needs until at least 1990; and WHEREAS, the bonds will accomplish this without any appreciable effect on our tax rate; and WHEREAS, the alternative to passage of the bond measure -- a substantial increase in the tax rate -- would be catastrophic to the overburdened taxpayer; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE: SECTION 1. To support Proposition W on the June, 1966, ballot, as vital to every Southland resident, and to urge every citizen within the Metropolitan Water District to vote YES on this urgent measure. SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
