A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WEST COVINA COMMENDING MABLE DE VOL FOR
HER SERVICES TO THE COMMUNITY
WHEREAS Mable De Vol received her nurses training at
the Wyoming State Hospital; and
WHEREAS, Covina Hospital was founded by Mary and Melisse
Wittler and Lavinia Graham in 1924; and
WHEREAS, Mable De Vol associated herself with the Covina
Hospital as a Registered Nurse in 1927 and has served the hospital
in many capacities, including Director of Nurses and Personnel;
and
WHEREAS, she was instrumental in developing and organiz-
ing the operational procedures of the hospital to its present
efficiency and effectiveness; and
WHEREAS, because of her knowledge, calmness under duress
and ability to act quickly in emergencies, she has for the past
thirteen years served as Supervisor of the hospital emergency
room; and
WHEREAS, she has been a source of great strength and
inspiration to all those associated with the hospital; and
• WHEREAS, her forty years of devotion toward the aid
and comfort of the sick and injured has earned for her the highest
esteem and confidence of all;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
COVINA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE:
SECTION 1. That the City Council, on behalf of all
our citizens, hereby expresses to Mable De Vol their sincere
thanks and appreciation for her fine contribution to the welfare
of the people of the San Gabriel Valley and for her devotion of
time and talent toward the orderly development of Inter -Community
Hospital.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this resolution and shall transmit a certified copy
thereof to said Mable De Vol.

duly adopted by the City Council of the City of West Covina at
a regular meeting thereof held on the llth day of April, 1966,
by the following vote of the Council:
