Resolution - 3332• RESOLUTION NO. 3332 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA NAMING OFFICIAL CITY TREE WHEREAS, at their regular meeting on October 18, 1965, the City Council of the City of West Covina authorized the Recreation & Parks Commission to conduct a contest for the pur- pose of selecting an official city tree; and WHEREAS, the Recreation & Park Commission, with the assistance of local civic organizations, established rules and procedures under which the contest was to be conducted; and WHEREAS, Mr. Jim Degen and Mr. Howard Bolts of Califor- nia State Polytechnic College, and Mr. Wayne Morgan from the University of California Extension Services, were chosen as judges; and WHEREAS, the contest was open to the general public; and WHEREAS, the judges carefully reviewed all the entries submitted and their selection was the Pittosporum R_hombifolium known as the Diamond Leaf Pittosporum, a tree best suited for this City; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina does resolve as follows: SECTION 1. That the Diamond Leaf Pittosporum shall be named the official City of West Covina, California, tree. SECTION 2. That the City Council.hereby commends the Recreation & Park Commission, staff, judges and all those who participated, for their fine contribution toward the success of this contest. SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution. Approved and adopted this 14th day of March, 1966.
