Resolution - 3307• to 41 RESOLUTION NO. 3307 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA URGING THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES TO SUPPORT LEGISLATION INCREASING CITY CONTROL OVER THE LOCATION AND TYPE OF TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION LINES, TELEPHONE, TELEVISION, AND OTHER OVERHEAD UTILITY LINES WITHIN CORPORATE LIMITS OF CITIES. WHEREAS, cities are responsible for guiding the physical development of land within their jurisdictions for the purpose of creating the type of living and working environment desired by the community; and WHEREAS, the location of such overhead utility lines is a significant factor in the physical environment; and WHEREAS, the authority of cities to control the location of . such overhead utility lines is circumscribed by their lack of control of easements over state-owned property, notably highways, within and through cities; and WHEREAS, this lack of control sometimes results in the dese- cration of the physical environment that has been nurtured by the community; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of West Covina that: 1. The STATE LEAGUE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES is urged to sponsor legislation which will give cities control over the location and type of transmission and distribution lines, telephone, television and other overhead utility lines within corporate limits of cities. 2. The CITY CLERK is instructed to certify to the adoption of this resolu- tion and to send a certified copy thereof to the State League Board of Directors. Adopted and approved this 24th day of January 1966. Mayor I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Nest Covina at a regular meeting thereof held on the 24th day of January , 1966, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: Councilmen: Jett, Snyder, Krieger, Heath, Mayor Nichols.
