A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, COMMEN-
DING THE REVEREND HENRY KENT FOR THE
SERVICES HE HAS RENDERED TO THE CITIZENS
OF OUR CITY
WHEREAS, in 1952 the Congregation of the Community'
Presbyterian Church of West Covina numbering�!approximately 150
people.worked diligently to purchase property, establish.'and
build a new church in the community; and
WHEREAS, in August 1952'the Reverend Henry Kent
assumed the ministeral duties and the responsibilities.of
further developing the Community:Presbyterian Church in West
Covina; and
WHEREAS, during the following years; the Congrega-
tion increased in number to.over 1200; and. l

WHEREAS, Reverend Kent's understanding of the needs
of"the Community, his constructive leadership, his devotion of
time and talent, and his ability to unify his congregation,
made it possible for the Church to expand its facilities to
meet'the growing need for the services.'of'the Church; and

WHEREAS; his'deep insight to humaninature, his be-
lief in the sanctity of human`.life and the preservation of
man's dignity won for.him the.complete confidence of his
people in his efforts to_ provide for their comfort; and
WHEREAS,. his'contribution''to the' everyday life of
.the members of his congregation leaves each richer for his
presence; and
WHEREAS,%the Reverend•Henry Kent has now been.called
by his'Church to administer the needs of another fine community
and he.is therefore leaving.our City. J
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of West Covina, hereby commends the Reverend Henry
Kent for his•fine achievements and enthusiastic and capable work
in the interest of his Church and the general welfare of this City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall
.certify to the adoption of this resolution and shall transmit
a certified copy thereof to REVEREND HENRY KENT. ..
