Resolution - 2710RESOLUTION NO. 2710 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL.OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA PROVIDING FOR THE PURCHASE OF REAL ESTATE:FOR MUNICIPAL PURPOSES, FOR THE EXECUTION OF NECESSARY AGREEMENT IN CONNECTION THEREWITH AND ACCEPTING GRANT DEED COVERING SAID REAL PROPERTY The City Council of the City of.West Covina does resolve as follows: WHEREAS, in the opinion of this Council, due to the rapid growth and development of the City of West Covina, there exists an urgent need for an adequate site for general municipal purposes and operations, to -wit: street and highways (Azusa Avenue); and WHEREAS, the City Council upon proper investigation and study of the problems involved has concluded that an available site in the City of West Covina meets the requirements of and is appropriate to the needs of the City of West Covina for said municipal purposes; and WHEREAS, the City Council has made a thorough investiga- tion of the suitability and the cost of the real property proposed to be purchased hereby and is satisfied that the location is appropriate and the purchase price of $9,500.00 is fair and reasonable therefor; NOW, THEREFOREf BE IT RESOLVED: - SECTION 1. That, upon the furnishing to the City of West Covina of appropriate evidence of the ability of the vendor to grant to the City a clear and marketable title to said real property through escrow, the City Manager and the City Clerk of the City of West Covina be and they are hereby authorized and directed to enter into and execute in the name of and on behalf of the said City an agreement between Helen P. Jackson as vendor of the aforementioned real property, and the City of West Covina, a municipal corporation, as purchaser thereof, relating to the purchase and use of said property for municipal or public pur- poses as aforesaid, and that the City of West Covina accept from said Helen P. Jackson a proper deed conveying to the City of West Covina the aforesaid real property situated in the.City of West Covina and described more,particularly as That portion of Lot 15 of Tract 930, in the City of West Covina, County of Los Angeles, State of Cali- fornia, as shown by maps recorded in Book 17, Pages 38 and 39 of maps, on file in the office of the , County Recorder of said County, described as follows: Beginning at the northwesterly corner of Lot 15 of Tract 930, said point being on the easterly line of Azusa Avenue, 60.00 feet wide; thence along the westerly • line of said Lot 15 and the easterly line of Azusa Avenue, south 0040'10" West, 90.00 feet to the true point of beginning; thence continuing along said last mentioned line South 0°40110" West-99.74 feet to the northerly line of Greenville Drive, 60.00 feet wide, as shown by Tract 18563 in the City of -West Covina, County of Los Angeles, State of California, as shown by maps recorded in Book 460, Pages 29 to 31 inclusive, -1- on file in the office of the County Recorder of said County; thence along the northerly line of Greenville Drive, South 89021'00" East 40.011 feet to the beginning of a tangent curve concave north° easterly of.radius 20.00 feet; thence along said curve westerly and northerly through a central angle of 90'01110" and a distance of 31.42 feet to -,a" tangent to a line which is parallel with and distant 20.00 feet easterly, measured at right angles; from the easterly line of Azusa Avenue, previously men- tioned; thence along said line, North 0040110" East 79.73 feet; thence along a line which is parallel with and distant southerly 90.00 feet; measured at right angles, from the northerly line of Lot 15 of Tract 930, North 8902013511 West 20.00 feet to said true point of beginning. SECTION 2. That upon the furnishing to the City of West Covina of appropriate evidence of the ability of the vendor to grant to the City a clear and marketable title to said real property through escrow, the ,City Manager and the City Clerk of the City of West Covina be and they are hereby authorized and directed to.enter into and execute in the name of and on behalf of.the said City an agreement between Helen P. Jackson, attorney in fact for Ella Patten, as vendor of the aforementioned real property, and the City of West Covina, a municipal corporation, as purchaser thereof, relating to the purchase and use of said property for municipal or public purposes.as aforesaid, and that the City of West Covina accept from said Helen P. Jackson, attor- ney in.fact for Ella Patten, a proper deed conveying.to the City of.West Covina the aforesaid real property situated in the City of West Covina and described.more particularly as The westerly 20.00 feet of the northerly 90.00 feet of Lot 15 of Tract 930 in the City of.West Covina, County of Los Angeles, State'of Cali- fornia, as shown by maps recorded in Book 17, Pages 38 and 39 of Maps, on file in the office of the County Recorder of said County. SECTION 3. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to execute a certificate of acceptance in substantially the form prescribed by Section 27281 of the Government Code and to cause the said instruments and said certificates to be filed for record in the office of the County Recorder of the County of Los Angeles. SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
