A RESOLUTION OF -THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WEST COVINA DECLARING THAT THE CITY OF
WEST COVINA HAS' -BECOME THE HEADQUARTER CITY
OF THE.EAST SAN GABRIEL VALLEY AND ADOPTING
THE WORDS "HEADQUARTER CITY" AS ITS MOTTO
WHEREAS, the City of West Covina is geographically
located in the center of the physical, retail and trading area
known as the East San Gabriel Valley; and.
WHEREAS, the City of West Covina is the largest city
of said area and'is located at the population -center thereof;
and '
WHEREAS, the City of West Covina has been the govern-
mental, cultural, retail and trading center of the East San
Gabriel Valley; and
WHEREAS,'the City of West Covina has assumed the posi-
tion of prominence and leadership within the said entire area;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West
Covina does resolve as follows:
That it be declared that the City of West Covina has
become and is.the Headquarter City of the East San Gabriel Valley;
that it be the policy of the City Council to publicize and promote
the reputation of the City of West Covina as the Headquarter City;
and that the words "Headquarter City" be and they are hereby
adopted as the official motto of the City of West Covina,
RESOLVED'FURTHER, that the City Clerk certify to the
adoption of this resolution.
Approved and adopted this 8th day of July, 1963.
