A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST COVINA GRANTING A SIGN VARIANCE. (Variance
No. 447 - Barthelemy)
The City Council of the City of West Covina does resolve as
follows;
SECTION 1. It is hereby found and determined that appli-
cation for a variance to permit the construction and maintenance of a
non -conforming sign upon the property located at 1818 East Rowland
Avenue was duly made, that a hearing thereon was duly held by the Plan-
ning Commission after legal notice thereof, that the Planning Commission
granted said variance by its Resolution No. 1405 subject to certain con-
ditions therein expressed, that said action was appealed to the City
Council and that the City Council has held a hearing thereon after legal
notice thereof.
SECTION 2. It is hereby found by the City Council that
facts exist Justifying the granting of said variance subject to the
conditions hereinafter set forth.
SECTION 3. A variance is hereby granted as requested to
permit the construction and maintenance of a non -conforming sign on the
premises described in said Resolution No. 1405 and located at 1818 East
Rowland Avenue, subject to the following conditions, the violation of
any of which shall be grounds for revocation of this variance by the
Planning Commission or City Council:
1. The sign and supporting structure shall be limited to
• a maximum height of 25 feet above ground level.
2. The sign shall have a single face of illumination to
• the west only, no light from the sign shall beam to the east or north.
3. 80 square feet maximum in sign area face shall be
permitted and in no instance shall the sign exceed the 2 for 1 ratio
permitted by Code.
4. The detached sign shall be the only sign permitted on
the site for this business, either attached or detached to the building.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution and shall transmit a certified copy thereof to applicant.
Adopted and approved this 8th day of July, 1963.
