A RESOLUTION OF THE,CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY"
OF WEST COVINA DETERMINING THE NEED FOR A
' CULTURAL -CENTER IN -THE EAST.SAN GABRIEL,VALLEY
WHEREAS, this City is interested in the cultural
development of this area; and_;
WHEREAS, there is no"place or auditorium available
where symphonies, operas, plays, ballets, theatricals, recitals,
art displays and musicals, which contribute so much toward cul-
tural education, may be seen without traveling great distances;
and
WHEREAS, there is a definite need and'desire for an
auditorium in a location which would afford an opportunity to
thousands of adults and young people living in this area to see
and hear many fine cultural and artistic activities that hereto-
fore have not.been available to them;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City.Council of the City of West
Covina does resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. .That the City Council of the City of West
Covina recommends that the Los Angeles County Board of Supervis-
ors look into the establishment of a multi -purpose auditorium in
the East.San Gabriel Valley.
• SECTION 2. That the City Clerk certify to the adop-
tion of this Resolution and shall transmit certified copies -
thereof to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, Regional
Planning Commission, Los Angeles County Recreation Department,
Community Arts Council and the Chamber of Commerce.
Approved and adopted this 1st day of July, 1963.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was
duly adopted by the City Council of the City of West Covina at an
adjourned regular meeting thereof held on.the 1st day of July,
1963, by the following vote of the Council:..
