THE CITY COUNCIL OF' THE; CITY OF' NEST COVINA -DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
%TIR�S, there :has been presented to the City Council of
the City of ,nest Covina, California, a written petition signed by
(10 the owners of more than one-fourth of the area of land in the
territory described in said petition, requesting said City Council
to annex the territory therein described to the City of nest
Covina; and
viIHER1V,S, prior to the time said petition was presented to
the City Council of the City of ;hest Covina, and prior to the time
it was accepted for filing by the City Cleric, the said petition
containing the proposal for the annexation of the territory therein
described to the City of West Covina, was submitted to and reported
upon, to the proponents thereof, by the County Boundaries Commission
of Los Angeles County with respect to the definiteness and certainty
of. the proposed boundaries, to wit:
At a meeting held on June 4th, 19569 following the recommend-
0 ations of the Oounty Engineer and County C y Surveyor, said Los Angeles
County Boundaries Commission approved the proposed boundaries as to
definiteness and certainty of the annexation of the uninhabited
contiguous territory to the City of West Covina as described and
set forth in said petition; and
NUERFM , the petition states that said territory is uninhabited
and that the owners of more than one-fourth of the area of the entire
territory sought to be annexed have signed said petition; that said

uninhabited territory which is alleged to be adjacent and contiguous
to the said City of Ifest Covina, is more particularly described
as follows:
Beginning at the southwesterly corner of Tract
No.17517 as shown on map recorded in Book 438,
pages 1 and 2 of I'=laps in the office of the Recorder
of the County of Los Angeles; thence northerly in a
direct line through the northwesterly corner of said
• tract to a line that is parallel with and 33 feet
southerly, measured at right angles from the north
line of Section 16, Township 1 South, Range 10 nest
S.B.B. & l.; thence westerly along said parallel line
to the first intersection thereof with the boundary
of the City of West Covina as same existed on Pray 23,
1956; thence southerly along said boundary to the
northerly line of San Bernardino Road, 66 feet wide,
as shown on map of Tract No.16567 recorded in Book
380, pages 25 and 26 of said Maps; thence easterly
along said northerly line to the point of beginning
Said territory shall be designated as "West Covina Annexation District
No.146".
IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED AND ORDERED that said petition for
annexation be set for hearing before the City Council of said City
of West Covina at the City Hall, 1444 West Garvey Boulevard, West
Covina, California, at a meeting of the Council to be held Pionday,
September 10, 1956, at 8:00 o'clock P.H.
. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that any person or persons owning any
real property within said territory, so proposed to be annexed, and
having any objections to.the proposed annexation, may appear before
the City Council of the City of I --Test Covina and show cause why such
territory should not be annexed to the City of Nest Covina.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall post a copy
of this Resolution and Notice not less than twenty (20) days before

the date of the aforesaid hearing, in at least three (3) con-
spicuous places within the territory herein designated, and also
he shall cause this Resolution and Notice to be published twice,
but not oftener than once a week, in the West Covina Tribune, a
newspaper of general circulation, published in the City of ?Nest
Covina, and also twice but not oftener than once a week in the
• Pasadena Star -News, a newspaper of general circulation published
outside the City of West Covina but in the County in which is
located the territory proposed to be annexed; the posting of
notice as aforesaid and publication in said newspapers to be com-
plete at least twenty (20) days prior to the date for the hearing,
to wit: twenty (20) days prior to September 10, 1956.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of
West Covina shall not less than twenty (20) days before the first
public hearing on the proposed annexation cause written notice of
such proposed annexation to be mailed to each person to whom land
within the territory proposed to be anne;;ed is assessed in the
last equalized County assessment Roll, available on the date the
proceedings were initiated, at the address shown on said assessment
. roll, or as known to said Clerk, and to any person who has filed
his name and address, and the designation of the lands in which
he has any interest,either legal or equitable, with said Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in the event that any land
within the territory proposed to be annexed is owned by the County
of Los Angeles the,City Clerk shall not less than twenty (20) days
before the first public hearing on the proposed annexation cause

written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to the
Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution.
I HEREBY CTVTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of West Covina,
held on the 23rd day of July, 1956, by the affirmative vote of at
least three Councilmen, to wit:

in three conspicuous places in the territory herein designated in above
Resolution.
