A RESOLUTION OF THE. CITY COUNCIL. OF THE CITY OF
WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE. STATE OF
CALIFORNIA, DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, TO
EXPEDITE THE CONSTRUCTION OF AZUSA AVENUE, A
STATE HIGHWAY, IN THE EAST SAN GABRIEL VALLEY OF
THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF CALIFORNIA.
WHEREAS, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
COVINA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS the Cities of the East San Gabriel Valley and
Civic Groups are anxious to make certain improvements to
their major streets which are of importance to this area, the
County of Los Angeles and the State of California, from a
traffic safety and economic point of view, and
WHEREAS, the State of California, Department of Public
Works is diligently preparing the design plans and profiles for
the improvement of Azusa Avenue, A State Highway, between
the San Bernardino Freeway and the Alosta Avenue in said East
San -Gabriel Valley, and
WHEREAS, the need for the construction of said Azusa Avenue
• increases daily due to the traffic congestion created by the rapid
rate of urbani�stion in this Valley,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and the
City. Council of the City of West Covina as follows:
SECTION 1. That it is respectfully requested that the State
of California, Department of Public Works, hereby continue its
fine work on this project and further give high priority to the
construction of said .,Azusa Avenue project so that construction
may be started and completed at the earliest opportunity.
SECTION 2.. . The City Clerk .shall certify to the passage
and .adoption of this Resolution and the same shall therefore
take effect and be in force.
• I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
adopted at a regular meeting of the City. Council of the City of
West Covina, held on the -day of 1956, by
the affirmative. vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit:
