A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OTC' THE CITY OF WEST COVINA ,
CALIFORNIA, DESCRIBING THE BOUNDARIES OF TERRITORY, PETITIONING
TO BE ANNEXED, DESIGNATING IT BY AN APPROPRIATE NAME, AND
GIVING NOTICE OF THE TINE AND PLACE WHERE IT WILL HEAR PROTESTS
(West Covina Northerly Annexation No. 141).
THE CITY.COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council
of the City of West Covina, California, a written petition signed
by the owners of more than one-fourth of the area of land in the
toterritory described in said petition, requesting the said City
Council to annex the territory therein described to the City of
West Covina; and
WHEREAS, prior to the time said petition was presented
to the City Council of the City of West Covina, and prior to the
time it was accepted for filing by the City Clerk, the said petition
containing the proposal for.the annexation of the territory therein
described to the City of West Covina, was submitted to and reported
upon, to the proponents thereof,by the County Boundaries Commission
of Los Angeles County with respect to the definiteness and certainty
of the proposed boundaries, to wit:
At a meeting hel& on June 6, 1954 following the recom-
mendations of the County Engineer and County Surveyor, said Los
Angeles County Boundaries Commission approved the proposed bound -
cries .as to definiteness and certainty of the annexation of the
uninhabited• contiguous territory to the City of West Covina as des-
cribed and set forth in said petition; and
WHEREAS, the petition states that said territory is
uninhabited and that the owners of more than one-fourth of the area
of the entire territory sought to be annexed have signed said

petition; that said uninhabited territory which is alleged to
be adjacent and contiguous to the said City of West Covina, is
more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of a line that
is parallel with and 290.64 feet easterly measured at
right angles from the westerly line of Lot 27 of
W. R. Rowland Tract, as shown on map recorded in
Book 42, page 45 of Miscellaneous Records, in the
office of the Recorder of the County of Los Angeles,
• with the northerly line of said lot; thence easterly,
northerly and easterly along the boundary of the
City of West Covina as same existed on May 11,
1956, to the northeasterly corner of "Annexation
District No. 11111-, to said city; thence easterly
along the easterly prolongation of the northerly
line of said "Annexation District No. 1111t, to
the southerly prolongation of the easterly line
of Lark Ellen Avenue, 66 feet wide, as shown on
map filed in Book 46page 21 of Record of Surveys,
in the office of said recorder; thence northerly
along said prolongation and easterly line to the
southerly line of San Bernardino Road, 66 feet
wide, as shown on said last mentioned.riap; thence
westerly along the westerly prolongation of said
southerly line, and continuing westerly along the
southerly line of San Bernardino Road, 66feet
wide, as shown on map filed in Book 60 page 49 of said
Record of Surveys, to the boundary of the City of
Covina as same existed on said date; thence westerly.
along said last mentioned boundary and following the
same in all its various courses to said parallel
line; thence southerly along said parallel line to the
point of beginning.
• Said territory shall be designated as "West Covina Northerly
Annexation District No. 141".
IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED AND ORDERED that said petition
for annexation be set for hearing before the City Council of said
City of West Covina at the City Hall, 1444 West Garvey Boulevard,
West Covina, California, at a meeting of the City Council to be
held �Jonday, September 10, 1956, at 8:00 o'clock -P.M.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that any person or persons owning
any real property within said territory, so proposed to be annexed,
and having any objections to the proposed annexation, may appear
before the City Council of the City of West Covina and show cause
why such territory should not be annexed to the City of West Covina.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall post
• a copy of this Resolution and Notice not less than twenty (20)
days before the date of the aforesaid hearing, in at least three
(3) conspicuous places within the territory herein designated,
and also he shall cause this Resolution and Notice to be published
twice but not oftener than once a week in the West Covina Tribune,
a newspaper of general circulation, published in the City of West
Covina, and also twice but not oftener than once a week in the
Pasadena Star -News, a newspaper of general circulation published
outside the City of West Covina but in the County in which is
located the territory proposed to be annexed; the posting of
notice as aforesaid and publication in said newspapers to be
complete at least twenty (20) days prior to the date for the
hearing, to -wit: twenty (20) days prior to September 10, 1956.
• BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City
of West Covina shall not less than twenty (20) days before the
first public hearing on the proposed annexation cause written
notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to each person
to whom land within the territory proposed to be annexed is
assessed in the last equalized County Assessment Roll, available
on the date the proceedings were initiated, at the address shown

on said assessment roll, or as known to said Clerk, and to any
person who has filed his name and address, and the designation
of the lands in which he has any interest either legal or equit-
able, with said Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in the event that any land
within the territory proposed to be annexed is owned by the County
of Los Angeles the City Clerk shall not less than twenty (20)
days before the first public hearing on the proposed annexation
cause written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed
to the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Resolution.
I BEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
West Covina, held on the 23rd day of July, 1956, by the affirmative
vote of at least .three Councilmen, to wit:

copies of RESOLUTION NO. 988 of the City. of West Covina, entitled
"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA,
CALIFORNIA, DESCRIBING THE BOUNDARIES OF TERRITORY, PETITIONING
TO BE ANNEX, DESIGNATING IT BY AN APPROPRIATE NAME, AND GIVING
NOTICE OF THE TIME AND PLACE WERE IT WILL HEAR PROTESTS" (West
