Resolution - 909RESOLUTION NO.909 A RESOLUTION OF TIE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA,CALIF- ORNIA, DECLARING.ITS INTENTION TO CALL A SPECIAL ANNEXATION .ELECTION AND FIXING A TIME.AND PLACE FOR PROTEST BY PROPERTY OWNERS. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That it is the intention of the City Council of the City of West Covina to call a special election to be held on the 5th day of June, 1956, in certain =inhabited territory contiguous • to said City proposed to be annexed thereto for the purpose of sub- mitting to the qualified electors residing in said territory the question whether or not said territory shall be annexed to the City of West Covina and the property in the territory subjected to taxation after annexation equally with property within the City of West Covina to pay the bonded indebtedness of the City of West Covina outstanding or authorized, at the date of the filing of the petition: for annexa- tion, for the acquisition, for the construction or for the completion of municipal improvements. Said territory is described as follows: m All that certain real property in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, lying within the following described boundary: Beginning at the point of intersection of the westerly line of Azusa Avenue, 83 feet wide, as shown on map of Tract No.15506, recorded in Book 342, Pages 49 and 50 of Maps, in the office of the County Recorder of said County, with the Northerly boundary of the City of West Covina, as said boundary existed on November 18, 1955; thence Northerly along said Westerly line of Azusa Avenue and the Northerly prolongation thereof to an intersection with the Westerly prolongation of the Southerly boundary of the'City of Covina, as it existed on November 18, 1955; thence Easterly along said Westerly prolongation of said Southerly boundary line, to a point of intersection with the Westerly boundary of the City of Covina, as it existed on November 18, 1955; thence Northerly, Easterly and North- erly -to a point in the Southerly line of San Bernardino Road, 66 feet wide, said point being the Northwesterly., 2-C corner of Tract No.19057 as shown on map recorded in Book 483, pages 19 and 20 of Xaps, in said office of the County Recorder; thence Westerly along the Southerly line of San Bernardino Road, 66 feet wide, to a point of inter- section with the Easterly line of Azusa Avenue, 66 feet wide, formerly Sierra Street, as shown on map of the Phillips Tract, of Rancho La Puente, recorded in Book 99 pages 3 and 4, of Miscellaneous Records, in said office of the County Recorder; thence Northerly in a direct line to the point of intersection of the Easterly line of Azusa Avenue, 66 feet wide, with the Northerly line of San Bernardino Road, 66 feet wide, as shown on said map of Tract No.19070, said • point being a point in the Southerly boundary of the City of Covina, as it existed on November 18, 1955; thence West- erly, Northerly and Westerly along said City boundary to a point in the Westerly line of Lark Ellen Avenue, 40 feet wide, as shown on map filed in Book 60, Page 49 of Records of Surveys in the office of the County Recorder of said County; thence Southerly along the Westerly line of said Lark Ellen Avenue 779.73 feet to the Southerly line of land conveyed to Jose E. T. Rodrigues recorded in Book 633, pages 17 through 20 of deeds in the office of.the County Recorder of said County; thence Westerly along said South- erly line 1250.94 feet to the Southeasterly boundary line of the City of Covina, as it existed on November 18,1955; thence Southerly, Southwesterly and Westerly along said boundary line to the most Westerly Southwest corner of the boundary of the City of Covina, as it existed on November 18,1955; thence Westerly in a direct line of Lot 35 of the W.R.Rowland Tract as shown on map recorded in Book 42, Page 45 of riscellaneous Records, in the office of the County Recorder of said County, with the'Northerly line of Badillo Street, 80 feet wide, as shown on map of Tract No.17291, recorded in Book 498, Pages 29 and 30 of Maps, in the office of said Recorder; thence Westerly along said Northerly line to the point of intersection with the North- erly prolongation of the Westerly line of Lot 1, of Tract No.16999, in the City of West Covina, County of Los Angeles, State of California, as shown on map recorded in Book 508, Pages 35 through 37 of Maps, on file in the office of the County Recorder of said County; thence Southerly along said Northerly prolongation to an angle point in the West- erly and Northerly boundary line of the City of West Covina, as shown on`said map of Tract No.16999; thence Easterly, Southerly and Easterly along the Northerly boundary of the City of West Covina to the point of beginning. SECTION 2. That said territory is hereby designated and identified as t'Northerly Annexation District No.13811. -2- SECTION 3. Notice is hereby given that on the 23rd day of April, 1956, at the hour of 8:00 otclock P.M., in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of the City of nest Covina, any person owning real property within said territory so proposed to be annexed and having any objection to the proposed annexation may appear • before said City Council and show cause why such territory should not be annexed. 'Such protest must be in writing and shall state the name or names of the owner or owners of the property affected by such annexation and the location and area of such property in general terms. If it be found that protest is not made by owners of a majority of the separate parcels of property within the territory proposed to be annexed, further proceedings shall be taken in accordance with the law for the holding of such special election. SECTION 4. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and cause the same to be published in the West Covina Tribune, a newspaper of general circulation published in the City of West Covina, there being no newspaper of general circulation published in the territory to be annexed, once a week for two weeks prior to the hearing. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of West Covina, held on the 26th day of March, 1956, by the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit: -3- • AYES: Councilmen JAmrs -v.
