A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA,
CALIFORNIA, DESCRIBING.THE BOUNDARIES OF TERRITORY PETITIONING
TO BE ANNEXED, DESIGNATING IT BY AN APPROPRIATE NAME, AND GIVING
NOTICE OF THE TIME AND PLACE.WHERE IT WILL HEAR PROTESTS (West
Covina Southerly Annexation No.143)..
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
-SECTION 1. WHEREAS, there has been presented to the
City Council of the City of West Covina, California, a written
petition signed by the owners of all of the area of land in the terri-
tory described in said petition, requesting said City Council to annex
the territory therein described to the City of West Covina; and
WHEREAS, prior to the time said petition was presented to
the City Council of the City of West Covina, and prior to the time
it was accepted for filing by the City Clerk, the said petition
containing the proposal for the annexation of the territory therein
described to the City of West Covina, was submitted to and reported
upon, to the proponents thereof, by the County Boundaries Commission
of Los Angeles County with respect to the definiteness and certainty
of the proposed boundaries, to wit:
At a meeting held on March 14, 1956, following the recommend-
ations of the County Engineer and County Surveyor, said Los Angeles
County Boundaries Commission approved -the proposed boundaries as to

definiteness and certainty of the annexation of the uninhabited
contiguous territory to the City of West Covina as described and set
forth in said petition; and
WHEREAS, the petition states that said territory is unin-
habited and that all of the owners of the area of the entire terri-
tory sought to be annexed have signed said petition; that said unin-
habited territory which is alleged to be adjacent and contiguous

to the said City of West Covina, is more particularly described
as follows:
it That portion of Lots 307 and 313 and the southerly
half of Francisquito Avenue, as shown on map of E.J.
Baldwints Fifth Subdivision of a portion of the Rancho
La Puente, in the County of Los Angeles, State of Calif-
ornia, as per map recorded in Book 12, pages 134 and
135 of Maps, in the office of the County Recorder of said
County, within the following described boundary:
• Beginning at the point of intersection of the center
line of Francisquito Avenue, (formerly Francisqito Avenue)
60 feet wide, as shown on said map, with the northerly
prolongation of the easterly line of said Lot 307, being
also a point on -the Westerly boundary of the City of West
Covina as it existed on February 24, 1956; thence south-
erly along said westerly boundary of West Covina to the
southeasterly corner of said Lot 313; thence westerly
along the southerly line of said Lot 313 a distance of
990.25 feet, more or less, to a line that is parallel with
the westerly lines of said Lots 313 and 307, and distant
easterly therefrom 299.75 feet, measured at right angles;
thence northerly along said parallel line to a point of
intersection with the center line of said Francisquito
Avenue; thence easterly along the said center line to the
point of beginning
Said territory shall be designated as "West Covina Southerly Annex-
ation District No.14311.
IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED AND ORDERED that said petition
for annexation be set for hearing before the City Council of said
SCity of West Covina at the City Ha11, 1444 West Garvey Boulevard,
West Covina,.Calif ornia, at a meeting of the City Council to be held
Monday, May 14, 1956, at 8:00 o'clock P.M.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that any person or persons owning
any real property within said territory, so proposed to be annexed,
and having any objections to the proposed annexation, may appear
before the City Council of the City of West Covina and show cause why

such territory should not be annexed to the City of West Covina.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall post a
copy of this Resolution and notice not less than twenty (20) days
before the date of the aforesaid hearing, in at least three (3)
conspicuous places within the territory herein designated, and also
he shall cause this Resolution and Notice to be published twice
• but not oftener than once a week in the West Covina Tribune, a
newspaper of general circulation; published in the City of West
Covina, and also twice but not oftener than once a week in the
Pasadena Star -News, a newspaper of general circulation, published
outside the City of West Covina but in the County in which is
located the territory proposed to be annexed; the posting of notice
as aforesaid and publication in said newspapers to be complete at
least twenty (20) days prior to the date for the hearing, to wit:
twenty (20) days prior to May 14, 1956.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of
West Covina sha11'not less than twenty (20) days before the first
public hearing on the proposed annexation cause written notice of
such proposed annexation to be mailed to each person to whom land
• within the territory proposed to be annexed is assessed in the last
equalized County Assessment Roll, available on the date the pro-
ceedings were initiated, at the address shown on said assessment
roll, or as known to said Clerk, and to any person who has filed
hisname and address, and the designation of the lands in which he
has any interest either legal or equitable, with said Clerk..

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in the event that any land
within the territory proposed to be annexed is owned by the County
of Los Angeles the City Clerk shall not less than twenty (20) days
before the first public hearing on the proposed annexation cause
written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to the
Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County.
• SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at an adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
West Covina, held on the 19th day of March, 1956, by the affirmative
vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit:
