Resolution og the City of West Covina requesting gas tax
funds for road improvement.
Th,c,rufcre B� it,, RESfltLV_UJ that the City of West Covina adopt as
a project for the improvement of the following described streets
and highways in the City of Uest Covinalthe extermination of the
morning glory Johnson grass and other noxious.weeds and grasses
growing therein,and that the road crew of two men formerly operat-
ing the road grader of the city clevotedtheir time for a three
month period from June 1,1945 to September 111945,to spaying and
exterminating all such noxious weeds and grasses growing between
the curb lines of all of said streets hereinafter named ,and
BE IT FUTHER RESOLVED that the expense for the salaries of said
two men at $175.00 per month for rent of truck,for gasoline and
oil for operating truck and machine for spraying said weeds,and
for liquid exterminator -M expenditure of approx-
imately $1,000.00.
ALSO BE IT RESOLVED that in order to improve highways and to
remove hazard from same that eucalyptus loge and stumps in the
center of Roqland Ave easterly from Lark Ellen Ave to West Covina
city limits between Azusa and Hollenbeck Ave be removed and
disposed of and that J#B.Lockwood of Puente,Qalif, be employed
to perform such work for the sum of $2,125#00.
BE IT FUTHER RESOLVED that the City of West Covina requtst the
Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County to supply said
$3,125.00 to the City of West Covina from funds heretofore accrued
to the City by the accumulation of the 1/4 cent gasoline taxfuna
under thet provision of Section 194 and 195 of the Streets and
Highways Code,said streets requiring such improvements withing,
the City being as follows
Barranca,Citrus,Azusa,lark Ellen,Vincent,California,Glendora,
Suneet$Irwindale,Orangelifillo-,Y,Ilereed,Vine,Cameron)Corters,Covina,
Service,WalnutoVirginia Road,Holt Ave and Rowland Ave,

resolution which was adopted by the City Courcil of West Covina
at the regular meeting of said City Council held on November 14,
1945 and signed by the Mayor of said city and that the said

CORWIN C. HOFFLAND, being duly sworn,
deposes and says:
That I am and at all times herein mentioned was
a citizen of the United States, over eighteen years
of age, and not a party to nor interested in the above
entitled matter; that I am and at all times herein
mentioned was general manager of the Covina
Argus-Citizen, and in charge of all advertisements
in said paper, and during all the times herein men-
tioned has been a member of the firm of the
COVINA ARGUS-CITIZEN PUBLISHING COM-
PANY (a partnership), publishers and printers of
the Covina Argus-Citizen, a newspaper. of general
circulation printed and published once each week
in the City of Covina, County of Los Angeles, and
State of California, and which newspaper is pub-
lished for the dissemination of local news and intelli-
gence of a general character, and which newspaper
at all the times herein mentioned had and -still
has a bona fide subscription list of paying subscrib-
ers, and which newspaper has been established,
printed and published in the said City of Covina,
and County of Los Angeles, for a period exceeding
ten years last past; that the notice, a printed copy
of which is annexed to this affidavit, has been pub-
