Ordinance - 2116ORDINANCE NO.2116 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION 2-76 OF THE WEST COVINA MUNICIPAL CODE GOVERNING THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SENIOILCOMMISSION • WHEREAS, the purpose of the West Covina.Senior Commission ("Senior Commission") is to aid and advise the City Council in identifying and serving the various needs of the senior population in the City and to recommend policies and programs to address those needs; WHEREAS, the Senior Commission also serves to encourage activities necessary to increase resident awareness of existing programs and services for the, senior population in the City; WHEREAS, the in an effort to assist the Senior Commission in fulfilling its purpose of serving the senior population in the City, the City Council desires to grant the authority to the Senior Commission to participate in the review of matters pertaining to the preparation, implementation and evaluation of the city's community development program. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina does hereby ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Section 2-76 of the West Covina Municipal Code is hereby amended to add a subsection (8) to read as follows: "(8) Review matters pertaining to the preparation, implementatin, and evaluation of the city's community development block grant program." SECTION 2: Severability. If any provision of this ordinance is held to be invalid, void, or unconstitutional, it is the intent of the City Council that such invalidated portion be severable from the remainder and that the remainder be given full force and effect. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance, causing it to be posted as required by law, and it shall be effective (30) days after its adoption.
