Ordinance - 2098ORDINANCE NO. 2098 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, CHANGING THE NAME OF THE PERSONNEL COMMISSION TO THE HUMAN RESOURCES COMMISSION AND AMENDING SECTIONS 2-66, 2-73, 2-192, 2-215, 2- 216, 2-217, 2-219, 2-224, 2-254, 2-256, AND 2-257 OF THE WEST COVINA MUNICIPAL CODE. WHEREAS, the Personnel Commission of the City of West Covina desires to change its name to the Human Resources Commission; and WHEREAS, the name, duties, and functions of the Personnel Commission are outlined in the West Covina Municipal Code Sections 2-66 and 2-73; and WHEREAS, the title of "Personnel Commission' or "Personnel Board" is also referenced in Sections 2-67, 2-192, 2-215, 2-216, 2-217, 2-219, 2-224, 2-254, 2-256, and 2-257 of the West Covina Municipal Code; and WHEREAS, the West Covina Municipal Code may be amended by ordinance only. NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina does hereby ordain as follows: SECTION 1. The City Council hereby approves the name change of the Personnel Commission to Human Resources Commission. SECTION 2. The City Council hereby amends the following sections of the West Covina Municipal Code to reflect the name change from Personnel Commission to its new title, "Human Resources Commission:" Section 2-66, Advisory commissions established: Section 2.67 (a), Power to appoint; and Section 2-73, Personnel commission responsibilities SECTION'). The City Council hereby amends the following sections of the West Covina Municipal Code to reflect the name change from Personnel Board to its new title. "Human Resources Commission" Section 2-192 (a) and (d), (I1), Duties; Section 2-215, Recognition; Section 2-215 (e), Recognition; Section 2-216 (a), Determination of appropriate unit; Section 2-217, Recognition by City Council; Section 2-219 (a), Suspension or withdrawal of recognition; Section 2-224 (a) and (b), Notice of proposals affecting employees; Section 2- 254, Appeal Process; Section 2-256, Hearings and Findings; and Section 2-257, Recommended Action. SECTION 4. All other provisions relating to the Commission shall remain in effect. SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as required by law. PASSED and APPROVED this 15°i day of April, 2003.
