AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
COVINA, CALIFORNIA, RELATING TO THE SELECTION AND
TRAINING STANDARDS OF PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHERS.
The City Council of the City of West Covina does ordain as follows:

the City of West Covina desires to qualify to receive aid
from the State of California under the provisions of Section 13522, Chapter
1, of Title 4, Part 4, of the California Penal Code.
WHEREAS, the City of West Covina is now in the POST Peace Officers
Program and eligible to participate in the Public Safety Dispatchers Program;
and
WHEREAS, the City practices already exceed POST minimum selection
procedures;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council orders that selection and training
standards for Public Safety Dispatchers, pursuant to Section 13510(C),
Chapter 1, of Title 4, Part 4, of the California Penal Code, the City of West
Covina will adhere to standards for recruitment and training established by
the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST); and
further that the Commission and its representatives may make such inquiries
as deemed appropriate by the Commission to ascertain that the City of West
Covina's Public Safety Dispatcher personnel adhere to such standards and
training.
And further orders that the City Clerk shall certify to the passage
of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as required by
Law and that this ordinance shall be effective 30 days from the date of
adoption.
