Ordinance - 1741ORDINANCE No. 1741 AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA. RELATING TO STANDARDS AND TRAINING FOR CORRECTIONS PROGRAM The City Council of the City of West Covina ordain as follows: Section 1. While receiving any State Aid pursuant to Article • 3, commencing with Section 6040 of the California Penal Code, the City of West Covina will adhere to the standards for selection and training established by the Board of Corrections. Section 2. Pursuant to Government Code Section 36937(b) this ordinance is an urgency ordinance and shall take effect immediately upon its addition by a four -fifths vote of the City Council. The basis of the urgency is that this ordinance is a prerequisite to obtaining State funding for educational programs for City Jailers and Jail Supervisors.. These funds are necessary `to ,continue to insure that Jailers and Jail Supervisors are well trained, thereby preserving the public peace, health and safety.
