Ordinance - 1704ORDINANCE NO. 1704 C7 • AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, ADDING SECTION 2-317 TO THE WEST COVINA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE SALE OF SURPLUS SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT. WHEREAS, the City of West Covina prides itself on being unbiased and objective in its dealings with the public; and WHEREAS, City employees are currently allowed to bid on and purchase surplus City supplies and equipment; and WHEREAS, the City of West Covina is concerned about maintaining its image of integrity and therefore will prohibit its employees to bid on and purchase surplus City supplies and equipment. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Section 2-317 is hereby added to the West Covina Municipal Code and reads as follows: Surplus supplies and equipment may be sold to the public if so prescribed by the city manager. City employees, however, are ineligible to bid on and to purchase such surplus items. SECTION 2. The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published in the manner prescribed by law.
