AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA,
ADDING SECTION 18-24 TO THE WEST COVINA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING
TO PUBLIC SALE OF UNCLAIMED PROPERTY.
WHEREAS, the City of West Covina prides itself on being unbiased
and objective in its.dealings with the public; and
WHEREAS, the City employees are currently allowed to, bid on
and purchase surplus City supplies and equipment; and
WHEREAS, the City of West Covina is concerned about maintaining
its image of integrity and therefore will prohibit its employees to bid
on and purchase surplus City supplies and equipment.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina
does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 18-24 is hereby added to the West Covina
Municipal Code and reads as follows:
Pursuant to Section 18-19 of this article, all unclaimed
property will be sold at public auction. City employees,
however, are ineligible to bid on and purchase such
unclaimed property.
SECTION 2. The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk shall
certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause
the same to be published in the manner prescribed by law.
