ORDINANCE NO. 1613
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA
AMENDING SECTION 7-151, SECTION 7-152(a), AND REPEALING
SECTION 7-153 REGARDING POLITICAL SIGNS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section I. The West Covina Municipal Code is -hereby amended by revising
Section 7-151 and 7-152(a) to read as follows:
Sec. 7-151. Size Limitations.
a) No political sign erected on public property pursuant to
to this division shall exceed 4 square feet in area, per face,
or a maximum height of 42 inches from the ground level to the
top of the sign.
b) No political sign erected on private property pursuant to
this division shall exceed 8 feet.in any of its dimensions
or 32 feet in area.
Sec. 7-152. Location Restrictions.
a) Public property. No political sign shall be located upon a
public street, alley, median island sidewalk, right-of-way
or easement, nor attached to trees, utility poles, traffic
control boxes or other governmental property or property
dedicated to a public use except:
1) Signs attached to a private wall, fence or building may
project over such areas a distance no greater than
six inches.
2) Signs may be placed on stakes or other support devices
in the ground or tree wells in the parkways,
Section II. The West Covina Municipal Code Section 7-153. Cash bond
required, is hereby amended by repealing Section 7.-153 thereof Lin its entirety.
Section III. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, part
or portion of this ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid or uncon-
stitutional by any court -of competent jurisdictions, such decision shall not
affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance. The City
Council declares that it would have adopted this ordinance and each section,
subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, part or portion thereof, irrespective
of the fact that any one or more sections, subsections, clauses, phrases,
parts or portions be declared invalid or unconstitutional.
Section IV. The Mayor shall sign and City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be
published in the manner prescribed by law.
